South African handmade products & textile.

My name is Malani Venter and I started doing custom acrylic portrait paintings two years ago. My business name is Kaatjie Produkte, named after my fat little black cat. For 15 years I was a journalist/editor at an Afrikaans daily newspaper in Cape Town, but Covid changed that in June 2020.

Now I focus full time on painting lots of families with their furry and real kids as well as making quirky handmade products. I live in the beautiful Banhoek Valley outside Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, South Africa. To be able to create and to make this country a little bit more quirky and beautiful is an absolute pleasure.
