Bak en spyseniering
The Baking Saffa
Hallo. My naam is Kim en ek is The Baking Saffa.
Hulle help my almal op baie maniere, so The Baking Saffa is eintlik ‘n familieonderneming. My dogter het twee onderskeidings in matriek (GCSE) behaal vir Gasvryheidstudies en Spyseniering, en nou neem my seun Voedseltegnologie as matriekvak.
Ek is by my plaaslike raad as tuisbakker geregistreer en toe my kombuisinspeksie op 22 Februarie 2022 gedoen is, het ek 5 (die hoogste punt) gekry.
Ek hoop jy geniet alles wat jy by my bakkery in Dartford, Kent, koop.
Hi, my name is Kim and I am The Baking Saffa. Here’s a little about my story and how my bakery started.
I was born and raised in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. After taking a course in food and beverage and a bartending course, I ventured out into the world to the excitement of London in 2002. Creativity has always been the bone of my structure, inspiring me to try new things, whether drawing, baking or even crocheting. The baking, stickers, cards, website and photography you see have all been crafted and produced by me.
After learning to crochet in 2008, I created a business (Kims Colourway) selling wonderful gifts all year round as well as at the local Christmas markets. I also support my local charity foundations and hospitals by making and donating much-needed blankets, fidget muffs and more for the elderly or the sick. As a token of appreciation, you may find a crocheted surprise I made with your order. Anything crocheted that you see in my photos is made by me, and I might sell these items right here from time to time.
In 2019 a friend who has her own baking business asked me to help her bake koeksisters, a traditional South African delicacy of fried dough infused in syrup. Jumping at this opportunity and reigniting my love for baking, I gained inspiration to bake traditional South African goodies. She then asked me to supply her shop with Hertzoggies, and after that I decided to open my own bakery.
My two teenage children and husband, who are very supportive of both my businesses, inspire and motivate me to bake lovely food for you in my humble kitchen. They love being the taste testers and give my pastries the thumbs up! They all help me in many ways, so The Baking Saffa is really a family-run bakery. My daughter achieved two distinctions in her GCSEs for Hospitality and Catering, and now my son is doing Food Tech as a subject for his GCSEs.
I am registered as a home baker with my local council, and my kitchen inspection was done on 22 February 2022; I was awarded a 5 (the highest score). I have a Food Allergen Certificate as well as Level 1 and Level 2 in Food Hygiene and Safety. I am currently working on Level 3 in Food Hygiene and Safety.
I hope you enjoy everything you buy from my bakery based in Dartford, Kent.
