Faraway Care

Care service for parents left behind after their children emigrated

FARAWAY CARE

For parents left behind in South Africa after their children emigrated.

An increasing number of South Africans are emigrating, and Stats SA Migration Profile Report for South Africa 2023 shows that almost a million people has emigrated since 2000. Most of these emigrants are young people who often leave behind elderly parents in South Africa. Apart from the emotional impact of this separation, parents are also denied a familial support system and practical problems and loneliness become a part of everyday life.

Faraway Care offers various services to those left behind, aimed at providing the support that children would normally give to parents if they were living nearby. This will give peace-of-mind for the South Africans living abroad, knowing that help is available to their parents in South Africa.

Faraway services include:

  • Regular visits to check on overall well-being
  • General shopping and grocery shopping for the client
  • Arranging transport for appointments
  • Arranging medical interventions when needed
  • Gifts and flowers for special occasions
  • Assistance with practical issues such as TV malfunction, water leaks etc.
  • Help with general administration and paperwork eg banking problems
  • Arrangements for move to a retirement facility

Specific request can be accommodated where possible.

Currently these services are only available in Pretoria, South Africa, but will be extended to other areas in future.

Please contact me for pricing and additional information.
